🧭 PATTERN RESONANCE . . .
Surprise, surprise! Yes I’m in your inbox, yes I know it isn’t Friday, and yes I know this isn’t a long-form essay . . . but hear me out:
Below is the foundational framework behind 🧭 At the Center.
I originally published this last week on LinkedIn, but wanted to share it directly because it underpins so much of what I will be building and writing going forward.
↓↓↓
I built 🧭 At the Center on a core conviction:
We are only as effective as the patterns we can recognize, remember, and apply.
But pattern recognition, as most people practice it, has a ceiling.
We recognize patterns within our own domain or area of expertise. We get better at seeing what we've already seen.
Tech investors become better tech investors.
Politicians become better at navigating political environments.
Tom Brady becomes the best QB of all time over a 23-year QB career.
But patterns don’t stay in one domain, they repeat across multiple. The same structural logic that appears in the field you are building in is likely being governed by the same structural logic that appears across history, theology, philosophy, governance, institutional design, and more.
It just goes unnoticed because we were never trained to look across domains.
↓↓↓
So I built an intellectual framework I’m calling Pattern Resonance.
In physics, resonance occurs when one vibrating system encounters a frequency that matches its own, and the amplitude increases.
Pattern Resonance applies this principle to pattern recognition: a pattern identified in one domain activates recognition of the same structural logic in others.
Each pattern stored becomes a new frequency your framework can detect. The result is compounding — the more you recognize, the more you are equipped to recognize.
This framework operates through three moves that compound over a lifetime:
Recognize — Name the pattern from one domain.
Remember — Store the pattern, not the details.
Apply — Pull the pattern into a new domain.
Every essay published by 🧭 At the Center is an exercise in Pattern Resonance: name a recurring structure, trace it across history, theology, philosophy, governance, institutional design, etc. and then superimpose it onto modern day sports, culture, and capital.
