The Connection: Miller and I both used to train with private quarterback coach Steve Clarkson. Miller’s mom went to Stanford with my aunt and they remain friends today.
Quote of the Episode: "The fear of being unprepared given my opportunity is what really drove me during that time. Whenever I get my opportunity, I'm going to take full advantage of it. That's what really drove me to prepare."
Bet You Didn’t Know: Miller was coached in high school by Casey (former Tennesee QB) and Rick (former Tennessee and LSU QB) Clausen, brothers of Jimmy Clausen (former Notre Dame, Panthers/Bears/Ravens QB).
You may know the name Miller Moss from his historic 374 yard, 6 TD performance in his first career start for the USC Trojans in the 2023 Holiday Bowl against Louisville.
After two years of sitting behind future #1 overall NFL draft pick Caleb Williams, it was quite the entrance for the former 4-star recruit out of Bishop Alemany High School.
While that bowl game may have been the first introduction to “Miller Time” for some, it was certainly not the first I’d heard of him. In fact, I first saw Miller throw the ball when he was just 10 years old and a curly-headed kid who would consistently show up to training sessions at Cathedral High School in Los Angeles to work out with renowned quarterback coach Steve Clarkson.

Miller might be the brightest and most well-rounded kid in college football. As a child, his interests included chess and robotics. As a college student, he completed his undergraduate degree less than 24 months after arriving to campus, he’s an active member of USC Greek Life, and he is currently enrolled the USC Marshall School of Business, where he’s enrolled in the Master of Science in Social Entrepreneurship (MSSE) program.

From competing with high schoolers at elite quarterback camps as a elementary school student to becoming a coveted recruit, Miller's unwavering dedication to his craft is evident. In this episode, Miller pulls back the curtain on the high-stakes world of college recruiting and what ultimately led him to become a Trojan. He discusses the unique quarterback legacy at USC and his connections with Trojan legends like Matt Leinart and Mark Sanchez, as well as his deep connections with coaches Lincoln Riley and Cliff Kingsbury.
As USC prepares for spring ball, Miller shares his focus on improving every aspect of his game. "You can always be bigger, faster, stronger," he says. "You can always throw it better." His team-first mentality shines through: "It's about what we can do. And if you got any questions, just cut the tape on."
Recorded in March, this conversation provides a timely look at a quarterback poised to take the college football world by storm in the upcoming season.
